This is a lovely row of terraced cottages that was hidden from view of the main road, in my village of Middleyard, by lots of greenery. it was a search to find them as the hedges hid the names.. They were built mid 17th and 18th century and of course now grade II listed status, meaning you need lots of permission to alter anything inside or out..
This is called The Tump, so why was I searching for it. Well I was contacted through Facebook by a gentleman who informed me he was born here and could I get a picture for him, well I just had to didn't I.
I think I might have gone on private property to get this capture and it was a real hump up a very steep driveway. If you look on the right it gets even steeper to the front porch. It's made from random limestone with slate roof.
If you look carefully you will notice metal X on the end wall, and a X and + on this face. These are wall ties that go back to front under floorboards and stop the walls bulging outwards.
Lovely places but I don't think I could carry the shopping up and down the Hump called a driveway.
An interesting find , Heather ! but like you I would not like the steep drive up to the dwellings! Love the mellow limestone stones in this build as a lot of the buildings are built in this stone in your area !
Lovely find and capture (no, I would not be carrying anything up that drive - I can barely bring the groceries up the 2 steps in my garage!) A fav for me.
