I realised that my spider capture yesterday was not the best subject to choose, therefore after doing a bit of shopping, I popped up here and had a good fort about my capture today.
Well yes this is Rodborough Fort up in the trees and a favourite spot for me, when I could climb up to it. The original Fort George was built in 1764, and most people think the building there today is that old.
Sadly that fort vanished, and the current fort was built as a folly in 1870 and has wonderful views all over the valleys and down to the River Severn. The Chairman of my football club currently owns and lives here, but I can also remember it as a caravan site within the grounds many years ago.
What is most important to me is that part way up this path, near a tree and bench, my late Sister Mo's ashes were laid to rest nearly 8 years ago, followed by her husband 4 years later. They lived nearly all their lives in Rodborough area and this was their wish. A fantastic peaceful place to watch the world go by.
A very special place for you then Heather. Must be lovely to walk there & feel your sisters presence. I hope your football chairman appreciates all the work you do for your team & perhaps invite you in fir a look round & a cuppa sometime!
I hope you enjoyed the Fort :)
