You have to feel sorry for this poor snail as it was out for a Sunday ride around the garden. Lovely day and traffic was quite light with not many other insects or creatures around. It came to the end of fence post and slowly dropped down to the ground, it's then all went wrong for him.
It came across a large slow moving worm in its way and decided to do a dangerous overtaking manoeuvre without any indication whatsoever. The side of the snail made contact with the worm and it slide off the side of the garden path.
The snail didn't bat an eye pod, not even knowing what it had done and continued towards the compost heap. Luckily the worm was unhurt and just coiled up and rested. Fortunately for the snail the bird police didn't see its error or it could have been picked up by the crow prison warden and hammered to death on a rock with other insects looking on.
The moral of my story, it doesn't matter who you are, dangerous overtaking could cost you your life, so take it easy and treat yourself to a new shell while you can.
The snails don't come off too well in our garden, if they are spotted by a passing kookaburra or blue tongue lizard they are finished.
