Shimmering love

These emerald damselflies are in love.
They are consummating their brief commitment in plain sight at the pond.
It looks like crazy Arthropod Kama Sutra.
If you're curious, the male is on top.

Its the same species that starred in my project last year (Lestes sponsa).

AMAZING capture! I could sit here all day and try to figure out how they "do it"!! Definitely a favorite!

Whoa! Have to make note of that position :-)

@mcsiegle hahaha! Good luck with that one, Mary! It's called the Mating Wheel but I'd advise you to stretch first! ;-)

@hamora @essiesue thanks, ladies! I've looked it up; the male grasps the female by her neck with his anal appendages, and she has to bring her 'female parts' to his 'male organ' which is at the beginning of his tail. I usually am very to the point about these things but this website is 13+, so... ;-)

@sgianettoni @sioux @ribbet9 thank you so much, ladies! I went back today so I might post a whole week of butterflies and other shiny insects. It would be easier for me since I have a crazy week coming up...

@yeshanghai @photographycrazy @sitiodown @willowdragon thank you, guys! There will be more colourful insects on my project this week. Going to the pond and doing nothing but stalking the bugs makes me happy, even if it looks weird and many people would not sit on the floor, between the pigeons, spiders, mosquitoes and wasps for all the money in the world...

@kandie Wow, Kandie! I really appreciate you going through so much of my recent posts and commenting so much. It also shows me which are my best shots of the last few weeks. Of course they're not all masterpieces... What did you think of the variety? Anf what do you think my strong points are? Because that's hard for me to see by myself. Thank you, Kandie!

@laetitiapetrussa You are very welcome Laetitia ! I couldn't stop looking at your amazing work :) You do a fantastic job especially with your macro images (but everything is amazing - your food shots are great too!). I love the exquisite detail, colors and composition of your images. You have a great eye! I agree about it being hard to see for yourself and wanting someone else's opinion. I may ask the same of you in a couple months when I have more to look at. I started doing this project to grow, learn and expand my creativity. I have mostly shot portraits and some sports the last couple years and I desperately want more of a variety as I love to shoot everything!! I have struggled with having time the last couple days and I have not captured anything that I am really proud of but I am making myself shoot "something" everyday as part of my commitment to myself. Keep up the great work! I look forward to seeing more from you.
