Happy New Year Everyone

Black eyed peas were not destroyed or confinscated or destroyed by Yankee soldiers during the CivalWar as it was believed by Union army that black eyed peas were unfit for food for man or horse & therefore to be no value except as livestock feed and livestock were all gone but the rebels did not starve but survived eating peas so to insure good luck and in honor of the Blackeyed pea's part in preventing mass civilian southerners' deaths. As the elderly, children & womenfolk luckingly surviving the war and destruction of a burned Earth policy on civilians we eat Blackeyed peas on New Year's Day assuring luck in the New Year.
A great tradition. Thanks for the history lesson as well. I've never seen blackeye peas with snaps. I'll have to look for them - tasty and healthy!

Really? I didn't know that. I know they eat a lot of black-eyed peas and other weird stuff here in the South, some I like, some I don't! LOL!
