Jasper (photo taken on the 22nd August 2014)

No photos on Saturday. I had a 4 am start to catch my flight, and when I got home I took Jasper for a re-bonding walk in the mountains, but left my camera at home because of a predicted thunderstorm, which duly arrived, but just after we had returned home. So hence the above.

We bought Jasper on the 20th August last year. He was bred by a guy who used his Springer bitch for hunting, and his father was a stud dog named Gini des Ronciers de la Loue, who was a French and European champion at field trials. He was the last of a litter of six, and his price had been reduced from €500 to €200 on the online advertisement site. My wife and I drove to Narbonne to see him, and a few nanoseconds after he emerged from the kennel my wife fell in love with him. It took me a few seconds longer, because I was thinking his colour was different to an English-bred English Springer. But we were both infatuated, and paid the guy €500 anyway, because he had a young family and had told us he worked as a psychiatric nurse. He is a registered pure breed, and in the French system the pedigree name for all pups born each year must start with the same letter, J being used for 2014. Hence Jasper, and the fact that his class at Dog School is made up of Jacques, Jazz, Junior, Jinx, Jules and Jedi.

Only showers are predicted for Sunday, and we are going for another long walk, and I'll be taking the camera this time. A bit more re-bonding is needed, because on Tuesday we are going on holiday to England, and Jasper will be staying at a kennels for 8 nights, his first experience of that.

If you would like to see how he has grown, click on the tag Jasper below and you should see all the photos I have posted so far in this Project.
What a great story Tim! Jasper is just gorgeous and I can easily see how you fell in love with him. He is a real fav of my husbands and we both love the photos you take of him - he does seem to have character in abundance. I've just looked at all your shots of him again -they're terrific! My very favourite though is the quiet, contemplative one of him surveying the lake. Wouldn't you just love to know what's going on in that mind? Have a great holiday and I hope Jasper loves his holiday just enough to be glad to get back home when it's over.

Thanks for sharing Jasper's story. And this is a beautiful baby picture of him (look at those feet!) I agree with MIMI that the shot at the lake is really good, but I also like the close up you did.
Have a nice trip to England!

Jasper looks a lovely puppy. I do find that system for decreeing the first letter of dogs' names rather bizarre! And 22nd Aug is our wedding anniversary (nothing to do with anything of course!)
