Joshi sometimes sits beside the front door and rubs his cheek against the wall to make it smell like Joshi :)
Cats have apocrine glands in their faces (among others) to put pheromones wherever they want: things they view as their own, places they like, other cats ... or humans :)
@lastrami_ Your nights are warmer than our days right now! We went below 0F last night, and though most of our cats cuddle in the garage, barn, old chicken house, window wells, or huts I've put out, there was one feral we've been working with that was out in the open on the front deck. He eventually must have found a warm spot somewhere as he was out waiting for breakfast this morning no worse for the wear.
@robz I would let him in, if only I could... but it wouldn't work because he is very dominant. I try to take care of him outside as good as possible. I'm sure, he wouldn't be happy as an indoor cat, but when it's cold, he often tries to come in.
@aecasey Oh, brrrr.... that sounds really cold! It warms up my heart to hear about your cats and your loving care. The feral cat probably has a nice winter coat and a secret place for sleeping :) Best wishes for you and the cats!
