Heringszaun Kappeln

The herring fence is the town's landmark of Kappeln and the last one in Germany (and probably the last one in Europe, too). It is more than 600 years old and was renewed now. The fence appears to the fishes as a natural obstacle, so they swin into it and are caught :'( The fence is a popular resting place for seagulls.
This is so interesting. I cannot believe how old it is and still functions! Happy seagulls I bet!
