**ahh. today has been a good day so far. not only did I laugh a lot, but there was a 2 hour delay this morning and I love this photo :) I ended up having extra time thanks to the fog and I went out this morning to take pictures :) I would have gone back to sleep for a while before school started but I was already up, shower taken, hair straightened...
so I went outside and took some shots of the fog, then I realized I just bought a new dress, so I slipped it on and took some self portraits! I figured out a few minutes into taking pictures that today was a bad day to straighten my hair.... it started frizzing up and taking its natural form within a few minutes lol so that's why my hair is straight/curly in this shot. I had to restraighten it when I went back inside...
so the reason I didnt write all of this WHEN I uploaded the picture was because I didnt have time... now I am filling in the caption :)
... I guess the only other thing I'd like to add is that this picture is MEANT to look grainy. I added grain. It looks muuch muuch better outside of 365, but it's not too bad here... it just makes it hard to tell if the editing was intentional... and it is :)
This is a wonderful shot, Lauren. I like everything about it. Is this the dress you'll wear the first day of school? Be sure to show us your first day of school photo!!! Have the best year ever!!
Mary More- school already started for me!!! it started last Wednesday.... crazy right?? =T besides... I wouldbe be aloud to wear this... it is strapless lol
Naomi - I know what you mean... not the easiest task lol
Katie Rose Allan - aww!! really? :) I'm so happy :)
I really like this photo's grainy appearance. Works so well with your composition! As for your hair, you should have just said the heck with it and left it curly as I am sure you would look cute no matter how you wore your hair :-)
Glynnis - ahhaha tips? :) well honestly my self portraits are totally random. I just go out... walk around.. try different (odd) poses and some just randomly "work". like this pose... definitely different... but I like those kind of portraits... I like the portraits that are different... :) what I use is a self timer on my camera. it has a 10 second timer. I REALLY need a clicker though... that way I dont have to keep running back and forth to hit the button :) I'm sure you could get some amaaaazing selfies....
Joe - haah yep!! a 2 hour delay :)
andy - yea!! same school! She was my english teacher a couple years ago... I see her occasionally in the hallways but this site has really helped us keep in touch.
Well.. It's a real pleasure for me to receive comments from such a creative photographer like you!
I saw all your photos and loved them immediatly!
I don't find strange that so many people are following you!
Your photos are wonderful!
While you surround yourself with beautiful friends (whose photos you've shared with us), you're definitely your own best model! This is gorgeous (of course!) and such a different mood from this one that I loved http://365project.org/lauren211/365/2010-05-19 The grain that you added quite suits the mood of your stance in this photo, though the daisies dancing through are quite jaunty! More wonderful art for the eye, Lauren...just fabulous! And you, my sweet little friend, thank you for the birthday message you left me! Even at "the Grandma stage", birthdays are a delight to celebrate and I welcome every one! You always make me smile...**thanks**!
Diana - I'm glad you think so... my dad doesnt think I should have cropped it there... but he doesnt understand "photography+art" ;)
Fiamma - honestly I dont know how I have so many followers. but I am thankful for each and every single one of them....when I started this project I liked photography but wasnt INTO it.... now it is my passion and these people, my 365 friends, have been SO supportive and have a lot to do with my rising confidence in my work. but you are more than welcome for all of those comments... meant every single one of them :)
Louise - you just make my heart smile :) did you know that picture you gave a link to was my first time using a tripod and my first time REALLY taking self portraits?? :) man this project has really changed me and I love it... everything about this site is just.... great. you are more than welcome for those birthday wishes,... wish I could give you a big hug... well... here's an internet hug *** huuuugggggg ***** :) :)
Paul - I'm glad you think so... I liked the crop for that reason too :) ((see Dad, people like the crop ;D))
I just wanted to tell you that I've been looking through your pictures and reading your captions for at least an hour now, and you're amazing at photography, and I look up to you. :)
Mrs. Smith mentioned a Fog Delay ... I've never heard of such a thing, but looks like you made good use of your time! Love this shot (and your new dress)!
Read the caption of "tomorrow's" picture to get a feel for how these comments made me tip over the edge with "ooey-gooey-ness" ;)
Thank you SO much you guys!!! !!! !!!
awesome, we have never had a school delay for FOG. usually its just because of too much snow or ice. Wow, a few days into school and already a delay, those are my fondest memories of school, waiting and listening to the radio for a delay or closure. What fun.
Moray - that means SO much.... I have the biggest smile on my face.
Karen - I have only been upu 2 mornings in my lifetime where the fog was really dense... I just got lucky I guess :) but thanks Karen!!!
Carlos - :)
Warren - haha oh my gosh... delays and closings are the best.... yea I'm surprised youve never had a fog delay!! here we have at least one or two a year.... maybe where I live it just tends to be foggier? lol
i love the grain! if you look in Vogue or any other fashion mag, there are some very cool ads that utilize that technique. i think it's very obvious you intended it to be there, obviously was not a mistake. great job!
I see a whole different side of you here. love it..very feminine and sweet.like the olden days when girls looked like girls in dresses and what have you. you know what I mean.
This is such a great shot! You're so opposite me... I'm a total tomboy. I hate dresses, I hate makeup, I hate shopping... I always feel like I look awkward when I try to pull off the girlie look, so I generally stick to my jeans and tees. ;-)
It is so amazing and beautiful. It looks really neat in black and white too.
I love being a girl also!
:) :) :) :)
It makes me think of romantic times gone by.
Mary More- school already started for me!!! it started last Wednesday.... crazy right?? =T besides... I wouldbe be aloud to wear this... it is strapless lol
