I love snow, and it has been a personal tradition to make a snowman anytime we get a really big snowstorm because snow doesn't really last around here for very long. My two younger children used to be my snow buddies, but tonight they both shrugged. Sometimes you really should just keep doing the things you love, even when you have to do them alone. The thing I love the most about this photo is that I wasn't really alone after all. My Chloe kitty was in the window watching me the whole time.
Laurie, I hear you got more snow than we did - we got about 6 inches, on top on the 3 we got the day before. Ours wasn't the snowman making type of snow, thought - ours was the nice, dry, fluffy type. I love the lights in the background!
What a great picture! I really miss the snow being over here in Kuwait so it's always wonderful to see such fantastic photos of the winter season. Looks like you had a lot of fun.
He looks so happy! I love the lights under the snow, and the way that the snowman is lit. Well done, Laurie and Chloe!
PS... If things are crazy for you, you can always cut down on days, like only post every third day or something. You already 'did your time', posting every day for a year. Now you have more freedom to slack off a bit if you need to. Second year comes with perks. I'll call you soon :-)
I fave'd this because there is so much going on in this great clear shot. The lights behind it, the cat is still clear in the window, and the snowman is very cool. Also, I like how you continued on, even though the kids lost interest. Maybe you needed to do it just for you. I loved it.
BTW, we did *not* get snow that sticks together to make a snow man yet in 2012. We had a nice snow last week, but within hours it was raining and froze to ice. Then the last two days, we've rec'd light fluffy blow away snow. Nice for shoveling, but not for snowman creating!
fav for me too ... aside from the awesome snowpeep, i like the cat, the lights and lighting, and the warm feel. good workout, time well spent. did you win a scrabble this time?
Excellent picture of a very beautiful snowman. Love the lights on the bushes showing through the snow. Oh...and the scarf your Mom made you is the best touch.
What a fantastic snowman!! Love this shot- the peeking Christmas lights are a nice touch! Lennon Grace is really excited to get outside and build her first snowman- but I think Dad's gonna have to help her- I have an aversion to cold...lol
Well Laurie, everybody has said it really! Good on you on letting your inner child get out there and play! Love the pretty lights and your kitty in the window.....it would make a great card for next Christmas! :-)
i love this for SO many reasons, the story behind it being one of them! Brava to you for carrying on. . .in spite of having go it alone (though you clearly had some big support in Chloe!). I love the end result - the lights, the lighting, the winterwear, just awesome. another fav for me!
Just beautiful. The subdued string of Christmas lights under the snow on the bush make the perfect lighting for this shot. And not only the kitty, but is that Steve in the window as well? All over great shot. Love it.
@christiehicks I think what you're referring to is a macaroni framed photo that Skylar gave me for Christmas. Steve was inside with his feet up watching TV.
This is fantastic, and so is the sentiment, "sometimes you have to keep doing the things that you love, even if you have to do them alone." We are ultimately responsible for our own happiness...if only we could always remember that.
teenagers don't know what they are missing out on!
well done chloe for providing moral support x
