This one is for my husband, who actually pulled over onto a rest stop on the highway so I could try to capture a similar shot last night as we drove to a Superbowl party. That photo didn't turn out, and I complained I would never manage a good twilight silhouette shot on Cape Cod because it's too cluttered. I was wishing for an open field.
As I was leaving the beach after watching the sunset, this is what I saw. And look, honey, the moon! Which is what he suggested I photograph this week. The full moon is not until tomorrow, but this photo made me happy.
I agree with Trina! The way the color fades into a different hue..I see two bright spots of orange in the tree..what is that? Sat. my husband saw something in our neighborhood and said I should shoot that...that is so sweet when they help out and get interested.
this is beautiful, Laurie and I'm so glad you got a good silhouette shot with the moon even! I took one tonight that I will post tomorrow that kind of reminds me of the gradient sunset you caught only different sides of the country! :o)
@sarasdadandmom Ah, Terry, but here's the rub - you are the driver so you CAN pull over. Passengers have to rely on others and yep, my guy is very much a keeper for life.
Well I think Hubby earned some bonus points for this one. My Wife has learned to grab her Kindle when we go away because she never knows when we are going to stop somewhere.
I also took some photos of the moon with a virtual silhouette, but the hues of the sky didn't capture as I was seeing them, quite disappointing. Your capture is beautiful!
Great shot Laurie. And kudos to steve for being that kind of guy who will pull over and be patient while you snap a few shots. Sorry Iissed you this weekend. Hope I'll be back soon. I'll give you advanced notice if I can so we can get together.
Laurie, you got a nice compliment from my 16 year old tonight. I was looking at this shot and he came into the room and immediately exclaimed, "I like that picture."
High praise from a teenager.
