Today's assignment for the One Night Stand challenge was a self portrait. This might have been the hardest assignment ever, especially since is was so dark and gloomy outside. I had imagined a beach photo. Not today...
Not being able to look through the viewfinder killed me. That's how I frame photos and see them best. But I used my remote for the first time and this is the corner of the couch where I sit with my laptop so it seemed appropriate.
This is a really lovely picture. It's pretty obvious to say but the wall colour really adds a warmth. With your glasses sitting on the bridge of your nose, I can imagine you sitting at the computer, writing your stories, looking over them to check the screen. My sort-of self-portrait was my first use of my remote too. Had to find it first!!
I think the first ones are usually the most painful to do, but after a few it seems a bit more natural. It did turn out nice, and it's a very nice selfie. Nice to see the face behind the photos.
Great selfie! They're tough to do, and I can't tell you how many times I've been out of focus, out of the frame, or otherwise terribly composed when I've tried. Selfie challenges are fun because we all get a chance to see the faces that are normally behind the camera!
Very nice! Selfies are about impossible for me at this point. I love the lighting and color back there.....and btw, I still have not tried one enough to know how on earth I am supposed to make the camera focus on me, where I sit. :0( it seems like pot l uck to me.
This is beautiful, Laurie, as are you! You did such a terrific job with this selfie. It just looks SO natural -- no idea how you did that, but you sure did it well. Now, when we're able to get together, I'll be able to recognize you right away. :-)
I love this selfie, Laurie - congratulations on doing it! They are so hard when you're used to being on the other side of the lens! I love the coloring in the background, and I love the way the fous in on your eyes - the glasses on the tip of your nose and your bangs really draw you into your eyes!
wow, what an awesome shot laurie! the lighting is perfect. your expression is open and sincere. this shot makes me want to go get some updated glasses for myself.... lol.
@sarasdadandmom Good call, Terry! You are once again proving your detective skills. This was the hardest photo I have ever posted, bar none. By the time I took this shot, I had already cut off my head, cut off my chin and looked away a dozen times. Then I forgot to take off my reading glasses, which my daughters told me look dorky. But in the end, it did capture all my feelings about doing a selfie.
You DO look quite apprehensive, my dear. I promise it won't hurt to take a selfie. Leave it to your girls to call you dorky looking. LOL I think it's perfectly "you" and that's why it's a FAV for me. :)
