Magical Connections by lauriehiggins

Magical Connections

I'm not sure this was the best photo I took today, but it was certainly a magical moment on a walk with my son that later gave me cause to think.

Lately I've been really wrapped up in not only work but some important family stuff, so I haven't had as much time to comment on 365 as I used to. My oldest daughter needs my time and advice right now. She's far from home and facing a big challenge, so I've been spending alot of my evening hours on the phone with her.

But I really do appreciate the friendships I've made here too. So this photo really spoke to me where I am right now.

The spider webs around the weed remind me of the ties of family, but then the one stretching out and beyond is symbolic of my ties to this community, because without 365, I can honestly say I would not have taken this magical walk with my son after I picked him up from school.
Love the lighting here Laurie, it really is quite magical. I am sure your Daughter appreciates your time and wisdom (or will do when she is a parent in the years to come). I haven't been here anywhere near as long as you but I do appreciate the community feel as well!

LH, I love the magical connections you talk about! You are one of my magical connections! I have been a bit scattered myself and not the best commenter--one of my oldest dearest friends is going through a very rough patch so I understand exactly where you are coming from. Hope you daughter is okay--the apple doesn't fall far from the tree so I know she is a smart, strong, sweet person! Hugs to you!

I like the analogy you have created here. Family surrounded by a fragile web (it can break easily), another thread holding the members of the family who have gone! The light is on the family!

Great shot Laurie, superb analogies. Sorry to hear of your troubles, of course family always have to come first, your 365 friends will all be here for when you you need us! Hugs xxx

I thinkit makes a good analogy to go with your words, and I think it's important to know the priorities

Your analogy is wonderful, Laurie, as is this photo! Sorry to hear that you're dealing with some family issues. It's more important to be there to help your daughter than to coment on photos. I hope everything works out for her. Hugs to you, Laurie!

Gosh, you shouldn't ever apologize! This is a lovely photo. Your daughter is fortunate to be able to reach out to you like she is - you sound to be a wonderful mom. Best wishes for her and your family!

I fave'd this one because of the sheer simplicity of the shot and the amazing detail in it. I understand completely, but then all your real friends will always understand family comes first. I will seen a prayer your way for your daughter.

It's a magical photo. Amazing light, love the fragility captured. I hope things work out well for your daughter. I think everybody will have some slow or dificult period during the 365 day span. No worries.

The photo is beautiful, Laurie, and so are your words. There's nothing more important than family. You definitely have your priorities in order. :-)

I hope your daughter gets the wrinkles all ironed out. I love the connections you make between life and the parts of your photo and the photo is amazing...love the dof with the web extending out!

Wish I could fave this twice. Once for the photo and once for the connecting story.

Hi Honey - I'm so thankful that you took the time to walk with Tommy and share this beauty with him. It does look like your web stretches all the way to Australia; I guess everyone wants to be included in your love.

What a wonderful analogy, Laurie, and I sense this connection with people on 365, too. I think that's because all of us are able to see what's around us more often with our shared experiences here. I'm sorry Jess is having a problem in CA. Is there anything I can do to help, and if so, please call me. She is, after all, named after me. :)) I've always treasured both of you for many reasons, and that's just one of them. Hugs from Aunt Sandie to both of you.

what a beautiful photo and sentiment. I can never get enough of backlit plants. I'm sure everyone here who feels connected to you understands that family comes first, and we'll be here when you can come around again. Lately I've been really dropping back from 365, and I feel so guilty for not commenting as much as I'd like, but that's just life!

What a beautiful shot. The light is just wonderful. I'm sorry to hear your daughter is having to face a challenge. I wish her the best. What a wonderful mom you are. There is nothing like a mom's love and support.
