Family Dinner

Yesterday was my real birthday, but my two girls who are on the Cape both work doubles every Sunday. So tonight we had a big family dinner and cake. The three kids who live on Cape and their significant others made for a dinner for eight. I love how families grow. Julie took this photo of Melissa lighting my candles.

I usually hate photos of myself, but this is so candid and real that I'm actually happy with it. I even forgot to take off the antique apron I always wear when I cook, which I usually do at dinnertime. And after seven years living far away, this is my second birthday in a row Melissa has been home to help celebrate. All good.
