This is an art installation by Ewa Nogiec and photographer Norma Holt on a building at the end of fisherman's pier in Provincetown. It is a tribute to the women in the Portuguese fishing community. It was a cloudy day, which made this photo almost look b&w with only a touch of blue. I think it fits the historic nature of the subject matter.
hey there laurie, it's great to see you back and loved your words on my page. Photography gives a boost to the mind and the psych and allows creativity. It's wonderful that you have the camera out again and that you are doing something that is just uniquely for you. Thanks for your friendship x
@sailingmusic No, I was standing on the other pier, Myrna. I did zoom a bit, but not a ton. I actually had someone offer to take me out in a boat for photos, but my camera battery was so low that I knew it would be futile. Plus it was pretty dark out yesterday, although not as dark as today.
@webfoot Paul, you have touched on the exact thing that this photo evoked in me. I have visited Provincetown often because it's one of my favorite places and yet I didn't know this existed. P-town is an art colony at its heart, but these days it also is the end of the fishing and Portuguese culture, a gay mecca, and a huge tourist attraction in season, but a ghost town in the winter. You have inspired me greatly to find those old stories.
