I have wanted to take a photo like this since I began this project over two years ago. I love lone trees in fields, but both lone trees and fields are hard to find where I live and it rarely snows, so that was a bonus. This is the field in front of the Cape Cod Sea Camps in Brewster. It's near my house and I drive by it every day, but it took me until today to figure out where to park so I wouldn't jam up traffic and also the angle that would give me the lone tree. From the road you can see the main office of the camp on the other side of the hill, so this shot wasn't obvious to me at first.
Wow! I'm glad you described where you took this because I never would have guessed, and I know exactly where this is. You picked the perfect angle on the perfect day to capture this image. FAV for me. Just perfect.
Oh my holy WOW!! Everything is stunning! The color of the sky, the lone tree, the snow on the ground. Kudos! Fav for sure! This one needs to be on the wall. Seriously.
@christiehicks I literally look at that tree every day, but it wasn't until today that I figured out how to shoot it - downhill, on my knees in the snow. It's all about POV - that was today's lesson.
I lived in Sandwich and worked in Hyannis for 7 months, then lived in Quincy and worked in Sandwich. I spent the 7 months I lived on Cape exploring all the nooks and crannies of the Cape. Up until a few years ago I was still getting down there to visit my friend at least once or twice a year. Now I'm lucky if it's every couple of years, darn kids :-) I prefer the off season for my visits.
@l2lumom It's so fun to meet people from the Cape on here. I grew up in the Binghamton/Greene, New York area and moved to the Cape when I graduated from High School. I fell in love with it here and never left. I'm still exploring it every day. It's one of the things I love about 365.
Too funny! I'm from Syracuse, went to college in Cortland. Bought a house in Cortland about a year after I moved back from my travels. Still have to sell said house in Cortland as I'm married and living back in Syracuse......
