Karratha

View of the town of Karratha from Tank Hill Lookout. I will be living here approx 10 months.
Karratha, an isolated Pilbara city, is located approximately 1,500km (954 mi) north of Perth in north west of Western Australia. It was established in 1968 to accommodate the processing and exportation workforce of the Hamersley Iron mining company and, in the 1980s, the petroleum and liquefied natural gas operations of the North West Shelf Venture. The city's name comes from the cattle station of the same name, which derives from a word in a local Aboriginal language meaning "good country" or "soft earth".
Interesting view of this isolated town

Looks like a pleasant city. The history is interesting to me as I don't really think of new places to live being established in modern times- you get so used to thinking it had to happen 100's of years ago- not decades. Good shot.
