On 13th Feb 1916, my Grandfather, A.H Bentley, applied to enlist in the AIF (Australian Imperial Force) so that he could serve his country in the First World War. These are his dog tags, medals (inside the little envelope), which have been loaned to my mum from another family member for a short time...as well as his application to enlist, and a few red poppies, which we are going to make into a little bouquet type thing (with 40 or so poppies - not just these 3), with other memorabilia to pay our respects at the Anzac Day Ceremony at Villers Bretonneaux this coming April. Lest We Forget
What wonderful keepsakes! Beautifully arranged. I went to France to see my great uncle's grave, he died in 1916 and no family had been there since. I'm sure you will find it very moving. fav
