The Blue Church by leggzy

The Blue Church

This old church is known locally as "The Blue Church". It's actually an old Wesleyan Methodist church that is no longer in use. I had to photograph it from the roadside as the gates are locked...but I'm still happy with the pov/shot. No blue skies today, cloudy skies & a fair bit of rain which was nice....the lack of blue skies possibly helped with the shot & the church standing out a bit more, rather than being against blue! (I have photographed this church before & had that problem with the church blending in to the blue sky!)

The church was originally built in 1887 on a different site, and it was moved to this site in 1916. It was closed for regular services in 1969.

Thought I would include this for this weeks theme of "something old". TFL :)
Such a quaint little church, I love the colour, it looks lovely surrounded by the brownish vegetation. It does seem a shame to see it all alone and unused :)

It is a lovely scene & I can appreciate how the blue sky would dominate over it. Glad to hear there has been some rain .

So sad that a building with such history is shut, and no-one can experience it anymore. The church stands out really well against the sky. Nice capture.

There are so much similarities to the church in New Zealand, Of course, these are all going back to the same source. Lovely.

Lovely, clear shot, fav. Strange that the trees look quite green and healthy but the earth and the grasses look so scorched and dry.
