I went back to the canola field that I've taken 3 previous shots of during it's various stages of growth over the past couple of months....so this is todays shot. I opted to take this shot from a different pov in the paddock so that the windrows were visible - if I'd have taken it from the same vantage point as the last 3 shots (out of shot to the left, before a bend in the road), the rows would not have been visible, as they were running parallel to where I was standing at the fenceline....which is a shame, as I wanted to take all my shots from the same pov - I shall have to have a word to farmer Joe for next time, so that he cuts his canola to suit my series of photos!! lol. Another storm brewing this arvo, after a fairly HOT day - top of 33c....and summer isn't even here yet :-/
Windrowing Canola - the canola is cut and left to sit in the paddock in rows until it is ready to be harvested....it sits there for approximately 10-14 days, and the purpose is to minimise seed loss, as a ripe standing crop of canola is vulnerable to wind damage. Hope that makes sense!
