With this being the D Day 70's Anniversary I thought I'd share a treasured photo we have of my husband's father (bottom row, left). He was a tank commander and had a long career with the army before he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. I couldn't have asked for a more loving and honorable father in law.
This photo also makes me think how much photography has changed in the last 70 years. One thing that will never change is capturing the visual memories to share with future generations.
I cleaned up the photo a little and added the place and date.
This is a treasured piece of your families history. It is amazing that with all the technical changes/improvements that the fundamental reason we take a photo is still the same.
Wonderful shot! I love old photos. My grandpa was in a POW camp in Poland at this same time. He was in the Navy and his ship was torpedoed and sunk in the English Channel April 1944.
What a marvelous family treasure this photo is, and he certainly sounds like a man who was worthy of the love you all felt for him. Thank you for the reminder of this important date!
handsome looking chaps. and nice job on the cleaning, leslie. i love looking at photos like this, and sometimes i wonder what had happened to those people. your FIL is still alive, right?
