Plans were to visit the blossoms tomorrow with two girlfriends but with rain in the forecast I knew today just might be the blossoms farewell tour 2015. We have rescheduled for Wednesday but it not looking good with the amount of blossoms flying off the trees. (That shot in my extras album) Up at 5am, out the door 5:30 and on the metro at a couple minutes before 6 ( first train out). Got into DC at 6:30 as the sun started to rise. Almost totally overcast :-( but I walked to the basin and got a couple shots before heading to the Washington Monument to hopefully score a ticket to travel up the Washington Monument. Got in line an hour before the ticket booth opened and thought the line was pretty long and I might be out of luck. By the time the ticket booth opened the line behind me was huge. As you can see a disappointing sunrise turned into a wonderful looking day by 9 am. This was a new view of the blossoms for me, I believe the monument was closed for earthquake repair the last two years and I hadn't been up here since I was a child.
