A Step Back In Time

This historic farm has been on my photo bucket list for quite awhile. Today I was headed to meet a friend for lunch and packed the camera knowing I'd be passing it. The clouds were a lot nicer going but I would have been late for lunch so I stopped on the way back. This farm was owned by John T. Best during the civil war. Armies from both sides frequently camped here throughout the Civil War. On the morning of July 9, 1864 shots rang out and a battle ensued between the two sides. Mr. Best lost his barn, harvested crops, and hay to a large fire that broke out during the battle. He tried to sue the government for his losses. The farm is part of the Monocacy National Battlefield and a very interesting place to visit. The land around it is still farmed.

Wondered what it would look like in B&W so I put that in my extras album. I can't decide which I like the best... I like the idea of B&W since the building are from the Civil War.
I used to teach high school students American history, so this is very interesting to me. I always lean toward color, but the Civil War photos are all black and white, so it's a draw for me.

I very much prefer the colour version, which is at it's best when viewed large on black. The mono version in comparison looks a bit flat.

This one is great when viewed on black and I haven't really looked at the other when yet.

I like the color and the vintage color processing you chose. It really is effective.
