We headed to the beach this morning and I asked my husband if we could stop at the boardwalk so I could get a picture of the fireman statue and the piece of the tower that they have at this memorial. Little did I know that we would make the ceremony that was taking place. I went into Tonys Pizza and asked if I could get some pictures from their balcony dining which was closed. Was surprised to get a yes.
Our son lived in New York City at the time and worked not far from the towers, thankfully we had just talked with him the day before and he was on business in California. We had just been to NYC two weeks before the towers fell and stayed in the Millennium Hotel across the street from them. Still seems unreal what happened that day. Life as we knew it was over......
So glad your son was on business in California on that fateful day.....We stayed at the Millenium Hotel at one point as well, so I know how close you were to the World Trade Towers. I will never forget the horror of that day, either....I think it is seared in all our collective memories!
It certainly was a day we will never forget, it shook the world.. even downunder we felt venerable.. I had a sister and niece over in the UK at the time so their travel plans got changed.. Christchurch (NZ) has some sculptors made from wreckage of the twin towers, .. so it has travelled far.. great photo and processing
A fabulous stroke of luck you were not personally involved by your son or you! this is a fantastoc shot! A terrific POV and so generous of the pizza pl;ace to let you use the balcony!
Such a sad day and chilling to think you were so close to the disaster just days before. So fortunate your son was away. Wonderful image and processing.
You do so well with crowd photos, and I'm glad you got a high spot for this. I went to the doctor that day, and she told me she was trying to cope and go on with her day as her brother worked in the Trade Center and she had not heard from him. She was a specialist I did not have need to return to, so I never heard how it turned out. Your story reminded me of that.
