One of the shots from our helicopter ride over Las Vegas. It really wasn't scary at all mostly because there was no turbulence so a very smooth ride. It was odd lifting straight up off the ground. Photographing was challenging but got a few okay shots for a first try.
I would say this is better than just an OK shot! You have gotten a terrific view of the city, an airplane in the sky, and the sunset! What else did you want?!
@jgpittenger can't think of anything , shooting out the little side window or front window was challenging with glare reflection and top propeller in the shot at times. I used a fast shutter speed 800-1000 and should have upped the ISO because the light was fading with sunset. Good Luck and remember to enjoy the ride . We were only up 30 minutes so it went by very quickly .
I love this shot, what an amazing thing to be able to get a view like this over vegas, we haven't done this trip in a helicopter yet! @jgpittenger One of the key things in Hawaii, is to go on the helicopters without doors. The glare is really difficult to work around otherwise,
but with these helicopters you can shoot right out the door! The best seat is in the front on the far right! Enjoy, it was a top 5 of my life experiences.
Nice shot! We flew over the volcano on the big Island of Hawaii once but the helicopter had no doors which made photography much easier than trying to do it through glass.
@kandkids well, we actually will be on sunset one with doors. I'm hoping they will open them but that's what our son reserved for us for our 50th anniversary
