Dark 60 Is Coming

It's just a number .....It's just a number .... It's just a number ......
Do not fret! it is just that. When is the big day?! Super selfie.

It is indeed just a number. Forget age. I follow the theory that growing old is inevitable growing up is optional.

My Mum always told people she was 42. When she got too old to get away with being 21 she stuck at 42 and stayed at that age until she died 45 years later.

Have a wonderful 42nd birthday.

I'm with @onewing I totally thought you were about 40! Even the selfie says you must be imagining things!

come off it, woman. it's not like you're old. it's all in your head so stop counting. let me tell you a story:

a woman I knew is so afraid of getting old so she had a lot of work done on herself - botox, face lift, liposuction, the like. she loved seeing her face without any lines so she was a slave to facelift. one morning she was appalled to find, looking at the bathroom mirror, that she had big eye bags the size of baseball (okay, so I'm exaggerating about the size, but they were big eye bags!). so she wasted no time and dashed off to her plastic surgeon. after examining her, the good doctor told her, those are not eyebags, madam. and she said, of course they are! but the doctor assured her that those were not eyebags. but because she had had sooooo many face lifts, that those were actually her boobs. and then she panicked and told the doctor, "so I guess that explains the mustache, too, hey!"

okay, so the story goes like that, more or less...

now I got you smiling or laughing or maybe panicking. but you're 60, so what. at least your boobs and mustache are where they should be. keep it that way.

@grammyn - come on, katy, don't get the girl to have any illusion that she's 40. no way she's looking 40. I'd say 41 and a half. give or take. :-P

and finally, one more word of advice, leslie. when your bunions and your knees and back are so painful you can't move anymore, that's when you're old. :-D

@summerfield can you see me smiling? I will never inflict unnecessary pain on myself so no facelift. My mom had one years and years ago and my dad documented it. She looked like she's been run over by a truck for awhile and he had photos. It made her feel young I think, I should ask her . She is now 86 and I guess has come to terms with her wrinkles. This is the first number to bother me but I'll be fine I can't stop it and it does make an interesting subject matter. LOL thanks my friend guess I'm not old just older...

@lesip - i had a couple of friends who had work done on their faces. now their own mothers look younger than them. i have a very low tolerance for physical pain so no knife work for me either, thank you very much. the important thing you need to care about is your health, if you're healthy then you can do everything you want to do until your late age.

i didn't realize we share the same birth month. but here's to the big 60 - it's the new 40 anyway. cheers!

Be careful what you say. You might make someone like me -- over 70 -- feel really really old.

I agree with Tunia

I'm heading there in the fall myself but it really is just a number!

I live by the quote: You don't stop playing because you grow old...You grow old because you stop playing. With all my fun hobbies, 60 something hasn't been too bad...although I can totally relate to the selfie right before my 60th!
