It's been 4 years since I photographed from the Marine Corps Memorial. My friend Rebecca and I braved the heat and the crowds. We arrived at 7:30 and scored a pretty good spot while we waited for fireworks to start at 9:15. This was one of the first shots. The smoke got really really bad and by the end 9:35 the Washington Monument and Capitol were no longer visible and you couldn't even see the fireworks through the smoke. You could still hear the boom boom boom and the smoke would brighten. We just relaxed and hung back enjoying the view once it ended not wanting to deal with the crowds heading back to the subway.
One absolutely gorgeous image with that memorial in the foreground! And absolutely fantastic composition, Leslie. FAV. I admire you for braving the heat and the crowds to attend. The traffic can be horrendous
Last night I dreamed I dropped in for a visit with you and your sisters were there (you had three), your mother and my daughter was there. I was familiar with your house because of the pictures you had posted of the interior, at least that is what I told you. We went into your garden to weed and while we were there you showed me your "weed" that you were growing, but it was supposed to be a secret. I was shocked. I have no idea what possessed me to dream any of this but thought you would get a kick out of it Feel free to delete after you read this! ;~}
