Library Of Congress

Twice a year the Library Of Congress in D.C. holds an open house. Presidents Day is one of them. Cameras are allowed on these two days so plenty of photogs were there. It was a beautiful day to walk around the city. This is the reading room. You can not checkout books from this library.
Beautiful!

Wonderful scene of one of my favorite buildings. What a gorgeous dome!

Great capture of the dome and all the activity! I'm going to be in DC in about 10 days but I guess no cameras will be allowed inside then.

I just love the Library of Congress. I have taken some lovely photos there. But only of the lobby and from the observation deck above the library. It is definitely and easily the most beautiful building I have ever been in. I would not even have know to visit that building, except for the fact that an employee working at the U.S. Capitol building recommended it to us. Do you happen to know the other day that it is open to the public? As to your photo, it is quite spectacular and a wonderful Fav. What mm lens did you use to take this lovely shot? Wonderful job.

I am visiting my daughter in Maryland in May and I am planning on visiting the Library of Congress again, because on my last visit some of my shots had some vignetting caused by the lens shade that I didn't notice until I viewed them on my laptop that evening. But now that I know that they open the library itself for photography, I'll have to plan a third trip there sometime. My daughter will be saying, "Oh, no. Dad's coming to visit again."

Nice capture. I can understand why so many people would want to visit this beautiful place.

@mbrutus Columbus Day is the other open house day. I was using a 6.5mm fisheye lens and the photo has a rectangle crop around it. I will change my tag from wide angle to fish eye now that you had me look :-) I had brought both with me. I agree the inside is a master piece of art.

Wow love the fisheye effect Leslie!

Thank you so much. I just told my wife about your photo and the two day that you mentioned. She is all for planning another trip around then. When I went, I had a 12 mm with me. It gave me some good shots. But I have since bought an 8-15 zoom. So I am anxious to give that one a whirl there.

How fun. Wish I lived closer...well, maybe not given what’s going on in DC

Wonderfully rounded fisheye of that gorgeous room! I have been to many an event at the LoC and have fond memories of happy times spent there. I have a confession to make -- I made an impromptu quick trip to DC to visit a long-time friend (from 30 years ago) and I didn't contact you! But I also didn't have my camera with me so I only got iPhone shots. But I promise, I WILL contact you and I look forward to a photowalk with you!
