"Nothoscordum bivalve - False Garlic, Crowpoison. Nothoscordum bivalve was formerly classified in the lily family, but has recently been moved to the Amaryllis family. It does not have the oniony-smell of true garlics and onions. It is classified as Rare in Indiana, and as Threatened in Ohio." - http://uswildflowers.com/detail.php?SName=Nothoscordum%20bivalve
Found a couple of patches of this in the back woods some years ago and moved to area more protected from deer. The small patch has spread substantially & now produces these lovely delicate blossoms.
WOW Leslie, this is perfect. I have learned something with this shot. +F so I don't forget it!! I adore the comp, and the way the large petals have hard and soft edges, and the different light on the small bloom vs the large bloom.
Reading all the comments makes me realise how clever you are! Incedible how many shades of white there are and how they are affected by light, I think this is a beautiful shot.
I like this... the simplicity is wonderful. There's only one thing that bothers me and I'm not a 100% sure why. The interior of the vase... maybe because of the color... it looks like stale water while everything else is so fresh and clean.
@aspada Bothered me too Amy. It is fresh water - took this outside on the porch and I think it's a reflection of the River Birch bark. Was mulling about how to get around that last night - when it dawned on me to just put less water in the vase. Thank you very much for your honest critique!
