Sandwick School by lifeat60degrees

Sandwick School

A view of the Sandwick Junior High School with the swimming pool to its right and the remains of the old school to its left. Ages from 4 - 16 attend the school with an option at the end of secondary 4 to attend the Anderson High School in Lerwick.
Good shot, do all the island children go to this one school?

@lhart No we are in the South Mainland of Shetland and this school, which is known as a Junior High School, provides all secondary education for children ages 12 - 16 for the South Mainland around 250 pupils in total. It is also the school for Nursery & Primary children ages 4 - 11 for the village. There are two other schools for Nursery and Primary in the South Mainland. Shetland has four other Junior High Schools with at least another. In total there are 22 primary schools ranging from around 6 pupils to 180. There are two major schools in Shetland taking pupils up to age 18 with the Lerwick school being replaced by an new one being built at a cost of £50m+
