Lunna Kirk by lifeat60degrees

Lunna Kirk

The Lunna Kirk is a very peaceful place and was looking good in today's cold sunshine. The two wooden crosses in the foreground are graves of Norwegian war dead.

The inscription reads:
"Here lies one of the crew members of the "s/s" Hop from Bergen Torpedoed 4 2 1940. The lifeboat was wrecked at Muness Unst 7 2 1940.
Other crew buried at:
Balliasta Unst 8
Easting Unst 3
Fetlar 3"

Lunna House from where the Shetland Bus war time operation was based overlooks the church.
Looks fabulous in the sunshine with the long shadows
