The Guillemots returned to Sumburgh Head a week ago but today was my first time to get down there for a look. What amazes me apart from the fact that it is only the start of December and we are talking about birds returning to their breeding grounds but how clean the rock face is. The wind and rain have cleansed the stack of the guano of this years breeding and freshened up the place. I don't think many of the birds will hang about for too long this week on the rock face as it appears we are in for a stormy time.
