Landscape

Another fine example of treeless Shetland. Noss in the foreground with the three areas of water being Spiggie Loch, Brow Loch and the North Sea in the distance.
Is it not possible to grow any trees?? Pines?

@777margo Most of the Island is far too exposed to the wind but its the closeness to the sea that is the major problem as the wind is very salty. There are small sheltered areas where there are trees. I have some in my garden but 25 year old sycamores and the like are not much above 10 foot tall if that.
