A free bird leaps on the back
Of the wind and floats downstream
Till the current ends and dips his wing
In the orange suns rays
And dares to claim the sky.
But a BIRD that stalks down his narrow cage
Can seldom see through his bars of rage
His wings are clipped and his feet are tied
So he opens his throat to sing.
The caged bird sings with a fearful trill
Of things unknown but longed for still
And his tune is heard on the distant hill for
The caged bird sings of freedom.
The free bird thinks of another breeze
And the trade winds soft through
The sighing trees
And the fat worms waiting on a dawn-bright
Lawn and he names the sky his own.
But a caged BIRD stands on the grave of dreams
His shadow shouts on a nightmare scream
His wings are clipped and his feet are tied
So he opens his throat to sing.
The caged bird sings with
A fearful trill of things unknown
But longed for still and his
Tune is heard on the distant hill
For the caged bird sings of freedom.
Wow awesome action shot! It is strange but I actually had a dream about a huge flock of birds last night. I was trying to take pictures but my camera wasn't working =/
Laerke ~ I love, love, love this shot! There is something so beautiful about this shot...and yet slightly terrifying in a very Alfred Hitchcock sort of way. Thanks for sharing this wonderful poem to go along with this as well!
The poem I'd never heard and as i read it, it made me quite emotional. A beautiful picture to go with it. Most of the photos in my fave folder are there because of some poem or quotation that has been put with them. I'm adding yours to my folder. Thanks.
@Cherrill - thank you for your kind words Cherrill, I'm really glad you like the poem, I felt it suited the picture well, and then I guess most people can relate to feeling a bit caged now and then... I'm off to check out your fav folder to see your collection :)
I hope you like my very small collection. Quite a few were chosen because they reminded me of my dad who passed away just over a year ago and when I first began this project i found so many things reminded me of him.
I'm so glad you left some hints in the tag about the technique you used; this is gorgeous! It would have been lovely to see the birds in flight, but the texture adds so much! It was a delight to receive your note about our new grandbaby...these are some pretty exciting days with so much to look forward to!
@rich57 - I actually did! And I found the most ridicules, hilarious things like “shrewdness of apes” and “sowse of lions”. I though “mischief of mice” was super cute :)
And thank you for the fav!
@daliadestructo - it is called texturise_paint_texture_0018.jpg, dunno if that helps... I don't remember where I got it, I've had it for quite a while :)
And thank you for the fav!
I've been looking for a similar one for AGES?
