We found a stunning railway viaduct whilst out in the countryside today and couldn't resist jumping out of the car and trekking across a field with our cameras to play.
It was actually quite difficult to photograph the viaduct until we walked right to the base of it and discovered that the support struts all had openings in them, and we could look all the way along through the holes - Awesome!
I did some research once we got home, and found out that it was built in 1841!
It looks amazing. What a great subject to photograph. It obviously helps if you have a 'partner in crime' who wants to get a photo just as much as you do.
I love all the different colors and layers of the brickwork on this. Just amazing. You can tell it was built in a different age. Craftsmanship like that is becoming a lost art. Glad you went a little ways off the beaten path to photograph this and share.
Awesome shot. Very often impressing looking structures like this become rather disappointing once you photograph them but here you have managed to preserve and communicate the "awesomeness"... ;-)
@shanne@mabelkitty OMG Thanks! That's so exciting - I hardly ever get onto the pop page, can't believe I've got two on there!
@smallenburg Thanks, It's on the London-Brighton railway line, just north of Haywards Heath.
@helstor Thank you! It was difficult to photograph until we found this perspective :)
@christiehicks Thank you - it is becoming a lost art, we were very excited to find this & have said we will go there again next time we are in the area. (hopefully on a day with better weather as it was cold and just starting to rain!)
FAV! An awesome perspective and placement of person! Composition is perfect! It appears to be in incredibly good condition to be built in 1841... I like to see people take care of things!
Very hypnotic! What a fun place that must be to shoot and explore...but Why a duck? Why not a cow or a chicken? Sorry, I just had a Marx Brother flashback. Only old coots like me will get that. :-P
great photo,fav for me
