This dilapidated building is held together with iron bands which encircle the cement blocks. It was built in 1938 by a farmer who made the cement blocks himself. The structure at the top of the crib houses the machinery for lifting the corn and also provides ventilation.
@handymaurice I'm not sure how common they were, but we saw two of them tonight as we were driving. @quietpurplehaze The windows were for ventilation and light.
This is the coolest corn crib I have ever seen!! When I was young and lived in Minnesota, we seen corn cribs everywhere and none as cool as this one!! Would have to explore!! FAV!
Well captured.
