Thursday was Pay Your Age day at Build-A-Bear, a holiday that most likely will not be repeated! I happened upon this while visiting the mall. Noticed that in the second photo, you cannot see the store (it's about 9 stores down from the back of the line) I googled the event and many areas of the US (and other countries) admitted it was a nightmare - some stores shut down entirely due to crowded conditions, while others had to give out vouchers. Surprisingly, there didn't seem to be any meltdowns in the line, but, then again, I was only there a few minutes for the photos!
This was on our news last evening. Mobs everywhere for this. The stores gave the people who couldn’t get in to make their bear a gift certificate for $15 to use on their next visit.
My daughter-in-law was planning on taking her two-year-old to this, but I haven't heard how it went. The mall that it is in here is usually pretty empty.
Heard about this fiasco on the news. The crowds were crazy! I can only imagine how many kids were disappointed and cried all the way home. Nice shots documenting the scene.
@sunshinepix I worried about that, Diane. And this photo was taken in the late afternoon - what must the store have looked like at opening? How did they keep from running out of products?
