Field Of Progress (good vs bad) by linnypinny

Field Of Progress (good vs bad)

I initially captured this field as an exercise in editing, which leads me to my first definition of progress - improvement. There was a white sign posted in the field which I wanted to edit out. Recently @amandal posted instructions about cloning in Picmonkey, so I wrote them down and (yay) was successful in learning the cloning tool. And now for the second definition of progress - development. To take this capture I parked in the lot of a new 12 screen movie theater and restaurant. There is much more land to be sold and very soon this lovely field will be concrete and brick. Am I glad that thousands of jobs have been created in Middle TN by all this development? Absolutely. Am I sad that all this beautiful farm land will be destroyed? Again, Absolutely.
Nice capture and editing. Way to go on the cloning. And especially nice to capture this beautiful scene before it's bull dozed. Such a shame to see our farmlands disappearing.

Oh gosh, so glad I could help. It took me a bit to figure out that tool. Nice to have it. Though I no longer have the membership and have to clone when I upload here now. Or through gimp, but I prefer the ease of picmonkey. Glad my instructions made sense:).

@susanalena Thanks for the visit! I'm glad now that I took the time to drive back there yesterday.

@photographycrazy Many thanks!

@amandal Thanks so much - I do still have the Picmonkey membership, as I use it frequently! Your instructions were great - I just couldn't figure it out on my own and googling it didn't help at all! I'm going to practice as time allows on some older photos!

The price we pay for progress! But is it really worth it in the end?

Fantastic picture.

Lots of pretty greens in your picture. Too bad the row of trees couldn't be saved and made a part of the landscaping of future building. That's probably too much to hope for. Good job on the editing — I can't tell where the sign once was!

@lyndemc Thanks, Denise! I was hopeful that no one tell where the sign had been!
