It’s hard to believe that my 365 journey ends today! When I took on this challenge I thought it would simply force me to take more photos, hence improve my photography. Improvement made? Incremental perhaps, but no matter....I realized early on that the many connections I was making with inspirational, talented, caring, and diverse people around the world was priceless. I have way too many people to thank here, but special thanks to Ross for building this amazing community. I also need to thank my wife for supporting me in my craziness and not laughing at me too much as I dragged all my photo equipment out every day. I thought about quitting a few times when my camera felt really heavy in my hands; she helped me crash thru those walls. Thanks babe!
I’ll be lurking here, but not posting any photos regularly. I’ve been admittedly absent here for the past several months so I look forward to circling back through all the great work of my friends and continuing to watch the amazing work of all of you moving forward.
I used my favorite quotes throughout my project and struggled with one to close with, but found this one appropriate. Take care and thanks again everyone!

What a wonderful journey it has been for all of us fortunate enough to have been following you, Matt. You have documented your year in such amazing photos. Congrats on making it through. I hope you realise how much of an inspiration your photos are, and how much we enjoy looking at your shots. From watching this, it is obvious you draw a lot of inspiration from the happy things around you, you have a son who is an absolute character (and totally cute!), an accomodating dog & lots of support.

oh.....I am so torn. I am so happy that you finished! It has been a pleasure to look at your photos, as long as I have been here. I am sad, that we wont get regular photos of your baby :-( but, totally understandable. Please do come back though, and post randomly....you are so talented! This was the best way to finish the project :-)

Oh my gosh! Say it isn't so, Matt! Although haven't had a chance to comment on them all, I've so enjoyed viewing your photos over the last year! Matt, what a wonderful year you've had. I so admire your photography work! And it was so much fun watching your son grow and change this past year. Do hang around...I can't believe I am already at Day 61 of year 2...time flies way too fast. All the best to you and your family! It's been a fun ride!

I've been buried under a mountain of papers to grade, so I'm a little late in saying congratulations! I've learned so much from you and your pictures. WoW!...I stand in awe and applaude you! I was absent from 365 for a period of time and missed this when all the accolades were being handed out for your sensational year! As I watched (and grinned when I spotted "my picture"...) words came to mind like "pure" and "honest talent" "uncontrived" "museum quality"...you get the idea. When so many now rely on apps to "create something different", I see a sameness lacking charm. Every photo you took displayed your knowledge of your camera, technique and lighting, and above & beyond the technical, you had an artist's eye for engaging subject matter. You're one-of-a-kind, Matt. I've missed your daily photos, and was so moved when you came by my picture of Dill and shared your thoughts. It meant the world to me...I hope you know that. Thank you, and my best to you always!
Matt, great to hear from you! Hope all is well. I do miss your pix. Went to you blog/smugmug site and looked around. Got homesick looking at the names of places Saratoga, Aptos, Morgan Hill, Campbell. Reminded me how beautiful the bay area is (spent 50 years in the Santa Clara Valley)! Looking back thru your photos, fantastic color and composition in pic after pic after pic! Hope your son is doing well, he is so very adorable and cute. I'm taking another, longer break from 365. Setting up a new smugmug site, learning photoshop CS5 and hopefully spending more time in the field. And yes, the old D300 is good isn't it! I am looking forward to the D400 or D800 as an upgrade but will always keep the old girl. All the best to you and your family!
