I have to remind myself that I’m doing this project to document a year in my life and develop my photography skills. I keep thinking I need to get closer to creating my first masterpiece, but in reality I really need to focus on building my knowledge. Today I worked on a lesson in a book on exposure. The goal was to practice a shallow depth of field. I think I got the hang of it, and the resulting picture was not that exciting so I’m posting this picture of my setup with my cat crashing it. He’s constantly invading my space.
Ok, hold it. Your cat allowed you to make her the background subject, and not the main subject? My cats would never permit that..of course they are spoiled brats.
@moncooga yea mine would not even like to be in the picture at all. @lisjam1 As for the DOF, I actually like it better with the cat in it, it ties in well with the whole cat and bird issue. This project does get tricky sometimes, but I have told a lot of people before, that the pictures that interest me the most are the simple ones of our daily lives. I just try and document my surroundings for each day, and I do it better on some days than others.
@wjw1741 I agree. I think I chose to post this one instead of the completely staged one because it actually tells a story. Sometimes the best shots are the unexpected ones.
