The flags in this photo were placed in a local cemetery by a Boy Scout troop. There are 175 flags in all and they do it annually to commemorate Memorial Day which is actually tomorrow. It’s quite a sight to see. Today when I drove in to take my photo, I saw that the same scouts had placed small flags on the graves of all of the veterans, and they were also giving out free flags to people to place on their love ones’ graves. I have no family or friends buried here, but for a brief moment I considered taking a flag to place on a forgotten or neglected gravesite.
This is an awesome shot! And yes, I think you should absolutely place a flag at a gravesite that did not receive one. If we were home, I'd probably do that but since we're visiting it might not happen. But that's a great thought to follow through on. Fantastic pic for the holiday and always.
fabulous shot and wonderful reminder of what the holiday is really about. I think it's a great idea to put a flag on a grave site that did not receive one. and by the way - found this through the Popular Page - congrats! =)
