Cape D’Or Lighthouse by ljmanning

Cape D’Or Lighthouse

Cape D’Or marks the entrance to the Minas Basin, in the Bay of Fundy. See all that chop in the water? Those are the infamous “dory rips”. They are not simple rip currents, but the powerful result of three opposing tidal currents colliding, a process made worse by an underwater reef that forces the turbulent water upward into a chaotic swirl. It’s believed to be the only place in the world that this happens. Also, it’s an incredibly beautiful spot!
A fabulous scene

Great image. A bit of a maelstrom going on there, then?
