Baby Magpie by loey5150

Baby Magpie

I just came across this photo - I know it is out of sequence, but had to share with you all :)
When we had our huge gum tree chopped down the other day, there was a nest with 2 baby magpies in it.
One survived & here he is.
Bernie relocated the nest up off the ground & put him in it.
The parents have continued to look after him & he is growing & is fully feathered now & flapping his wings.
I just love the way he thought I was his mother (food) when I approached to photograph him.
Thought to share this at this time of the year.
We must all love & care for each other.
Oh they are cute, waiting for Momma

We're happy to report he's doing well... and the parents are just wonderful. Strange to think that prey birds have that parental caring thing in them too.

When i followed your story about your gum tree I wondered about nests. In UK there are offically only certain times tree work can be done. It is illegal to disturb nesting birds. I'm glad this one survived.

What a little cutie. I love Magpies, they live in such large complex family groups, they're amazing.
