Found another in the butterfly bush. Not entirely happy with the capture, but very cool find.

Gorgeous butterfly! Those wings, and the colors and pattern on them, are mesmerizing. I love how the background looks kind of milky-smoky. Awesome shot. 8)

amazing shot.. love butterflies :)

I had no idea the black ones were the females... I thought it was just a different kind of butterfly. I usually see these more often that what I now know are the males.

@sunnygreenwood Thanks Anne. I've never seen one before either. I get the yellow shallowtails all the time. Saw this one being chased by the little orange American Lady butterflies. At first I thought it was another Red Spotted Purple, like the one I got in July:

But when I compared, saw the difference right away. So cool.

@vskolnik Thanks Vee. Me neither. Was a great find. Pure luck I happened to look out the window, cause she didn't stay long. Got chased out by the other butterflies.

@georgews Thanks George. Just not happy that its a bit out of focus. Have to work on that.

@myautofocuslife Thank you so much Livia. Just wish the focus was better. Think I need to increase the f-stop for now on.

@graveyardgirl Thanks GG. Ironically, I like the faded, swooshing background more then the butterfly. Has a cool look to it. LOL

@summerfield Thanks Summerfield. I'm realizing though that everytime I capture a butterfly, any kind, some part of it is out of focus. Do you think thats cause of the narrow f-stop? Maybe I should raise it? I've seen so many beautiful, crystal clear butterfly shots on here, and have always wondered how they do it.

@ladyjane Thank you so much Jane. For some reason, I have a lot of trouble capturing butterflies. Tricky little devils...they never sit still for long. LOL
