@quietpurplehaze Thanks Hazel, I am delighted! Riotous is what I saw and I have tried to communicate that.. and more besides... in my shot. So, not for the first time, you have said just the right thing!
this is such a compelling image... honestly, though, "riotous" is not the word that comes to mind... to me it feels a bit more apocalyptic or dystopian... the end of the world perhaps, or the end of civilization... when there is no longer time or money to plan for proper headstones or tend to the gravesite...
@northy Interesting comment, thanks. The dystopian feel first attracted me to it but I couldn't capture it as I wanted so I went off in a different direction.
the way the wooden crosses stand out so strongly helps to make this a real statement photo. I think it speaks of the repeating and ongoing cycle of human death and also, in the surrounding undergrowth, the power of nature to carry on, regardless. (But I'm not explaining that as well as the image does)
