The house finch’s favorite place
I hung this feeder up last week, the top is a metal “quail”, so far the house finches are the only birds to dine there.

The quail looks a bit of a bully. The house finches are very brave

Maybe the quail intimidates some of the birds. The finch seems doesn't seem to be put off by the giant above him.

It must be the time of night because I looked at the picture admiring the unusual bird you had captured. And then I read the caption! Very cool.

It's nice that the finches are brave. The metal quail does look intimidating.

The quail seems to have intimidated the other small birds -- well done to the finch for ignoring him !

I like your composition and the green background. As to the birds, trust a finch to never flinch, I say.

A great shot and composition. I must say, the Quail looks rather scary ;-)

Maybe they think it’s a big bird that they don’t recognise? Nice composition.

The other birds probably thought the quail beat them to the food and didn't bother. Lovely shot.

Thank you so much for your great comments, that black quail feeder was tucked away on a shelf in the garden shed. I had completely forgotten about it!

Lovely composition and the finches must think they have their own private restaurant.

The quail does look a bit overwhelming, doesn't he? But I like his rusty composition and it probably won't be long before the other birds are feeding there as well. Good shot!

Maybe that quail is scarring them - they do take time to adjust to something different - house finches do seem braver than most. Nice clear shot.

Awesome feeder! I need to get one of those feeders to scare the doves away. House finches are such sweet little birds. Lovely shot of this one. :-)
