As the Hydrangeas start to wane, I bring them in and enjoy them in small vases. I loved the sun shining through the cobalt blue vases on my kitchen table.
They make a lovely show and they are a beautiful colour. I spent today pruning my hydrangea bushes, I have quite a few throughout the garden. My grandfather used to grow them and my mum told me that he would cut them right back so they were only a few inches above the ground and then by the end of summer they would be as tall as the house. I have my fingers crossed that they enjoyed their haircut and will grow like crazy this year.
@nicolecampbell After the first freeze every year I cut mine back and they come back beautifully in early spring. They are probably 3 feet tall and 3 feet wide at the height of the growing season. It gets so hot here they stop flowering and only have one bloom time.
