The Catheral of the Immaculate Conception, opened in 1850

A lovely Catholic Cathedral in Mobile, Alabama. Their stunning stained glass windows are German Art Glass. They send one window a year to Germany to be repaired and reglazed, they are 2/3 of the way through with the project. The cathedral grounds were lovely too, I don’t know what the pink flower is, it was on a long-limbed shrub and just popped from the landscape.
A beautiful collage cleverly put together. That ceiling is absolutely stunning.

@onewing @gijsje @bruni @henrir @365karly1 @mittens @pcoulson @ziggy77 @ludwigsdiana @beryl @joansmor @carolmw @happypat @mave @radiogirl @carole_sandford @suzanne234 This cathedral is in the center of Mobile’s downtown area and is visible from the freeways, it seemed to be on a bit of a hill. We arrived during noon mass so had to kind of roam around outside till mass was over. The art glass stained glass windows were breathtaking but the group was in a hurry to catch our bus so I couldn’t tarry. It was pretty amazing that just a few blocks away the Methodist church had Louis Comfort Tiffany windows! They were protected on the outside with strange colored glass that allowed the sunlight to shine through them - if you were inside! You had to make an appointment to tour the Methodist church, it is kept locked, seemed such a shame, as we were all over the Cathedral after mass let out. You put this on the TP, thank you so much!
