The survivor

Our neighbor’s palm tree survived the extreme cold weather we experienced this winter. Actually quite amazing because it was not protected in any way. It’s been beautiful most of the summer. We’ve actually had blue skies and beautiful fall weather finally. I have measured 36” of rain in our rain gauge from September 1 to now, we joke and say we better grow web feet!
Lovely

Great shot of this beautiful Palm. It looks huge, so it must have seen quite a few winters.

@joansmor @henrir @mittens @gijsje @ludwigsdiana @mave @summerfield @carolmw @pcoulson @taffy @radiogirl @onewing @kwind @milaniet @happysnaps @bkbinthecity Thank you so much for your great comments, we’ve watched this lone palm grow from being barely to the top of our shared 6’ fence, to being quite tall and big. I can only think that perhaps the neighbor’s house and our house provide enough shelter from the weather and the palm thrives regardless of the temperatures.

Glad to see that it not only survived but thrived. Nice shot!

A beautiful tree and Palm LouAnn! What is the black box in front of it? A feeder? You have had a lot of rain! None in Sacramento! In fact, we are getting our house painted this week because the 75-80 degrees weather continues!

@gardenfolk yes that’s our birdfeeder. The seeds in it sprouted and were growing after all the recent rains so I had to clean it out and start over with a bit less seed. So not much left in it every day, maybe it won’t have a chance to sprout and grow.
