Our friend Dennis was a master duck decoy artist. He carved them and painted them so beautifully. He also owned some lovely antique decoys, like the front one in this photo. Two of his creations are in the background. His decoys were displayed and for sale at his estate sale, they all appeared to me to be waiting for their new owners.
Oh - I would have snapped them all up without a second thought if I was there! My father-in-law also carves decoys.
A wonderful capture of them and a FAV for your lighting and composition.
He was immensely talented Lou Ann! This is a wonderful homage to his work of decoys~your processing is great! This makes me think of my father-in-law (turns 92 this week) who only in recent years, stopped making his ducks ~ his weren't quite decoys but for years, I understood them to be so I'll always think of him. Thank you for sharing more of the beauty he brought to the world.
@happypat The sale is over, the decoys were snapped up by a serious and obviously wealthy collector, as they were each quite expensive. I will post another decoy photo though, I’m sure.
I would have loved to have one of those- I have just one that had belonged to my mom and dad. It's certainly not the caliber of these, but I've always liked them as a piece of art. Of course, I would not have been able to buy these, but I still would have liked to have one! Nicely captured!
ooh! duckies! love photographing them ducks, although sometimes the ones at the harbourfront would chase me if i didn't bring treats for them, little buggers. these are almost life like! aces!
A wonderful capture of them and a FAV for your lighting and composition.
What a gifted man. It must be difficult for him to slow down
